Date Night Style: Doing the Oversized Trend.

We decided to do an impromptu photo-shoot when we went out for dinner last weekend at the Taj Bengal Kolkata. So,I apologize if some of the pictures are not as clear as they should be.This outfit I wore was actually for dinner with family but would be great for date night too!
Pair your favorite skinny pants with an oversized embellished top and some statement accessories for a look that is both fashionable and comfortable.

I love the oversized trend. If done the right way,it hides all the parts of your body that you want hidden. It is also extremely comfortable to wear.It is wearing-pyajamas-to-bed comfortable. It feels all roomy and cozy and makes you totally at ease. And when you're comfortable,it reflects in your attitude. And that, your guy will love.

The key to doing the oversized trend for petite people like us is to make sure that the outfit does not swallow your frame. So,Make sure that a part of your outfit is form fitted while the other loose.Like,How I paired this top with fitted leggings. If you're wearing an oversized dress, cinch it at your natural waistline with a belt.It is the most slimming and flattering part of your body!
Also,At the risk of looking too comfortable glam up your look with some statement accessories like this oversized Neon Clutch and Gold cuff.

Let me know how you would do the oversized trend or if you have done it recently ?

Colours of Cape Town

One of the places we went to while sightseeing in Cape Town was to Bo-Kaap or the Malaysian Quarters. Now this place must be familiar to all of you.The colourful buildings of the street has been a backdrop to a countless bollywood songs and has even inspired it's very own film set back home.I wished we had more time to spend here to experience more of the culture of the place( and the yummy-looking Malay coffee place we passed ),but sadly that was not to be.I did however manage to get some quick shots clicked in all of the 20 minutes we got to spend taking in the sights.

The bag I am carrying is my new favorite bag.It is roomy and easy on the shoulders and I love it and I'm carrying it everywhere now.I bought it at the souvenir shops outside the Seal Island dock.Supposed to be the cheapest souvenir shopping according to our guide. But I am sure I was still very willingly ripped off like the gullible tourist that I am. :D

Make your own Fairytale

Real life works the opposite of fairytales. They begin all rosy and peachy and get jaded by the end of it.The endings are bittersweet rather than happy and the middle is filled with ups and downs.Hard work grants more wishes than fairy godmothers. And,we do a lot more rescuing than being rescued most of the time.

However, one thing is always common between the two. Princesses always wear Pink.

Indian Kitsch with Manish Arora

I am sure y'all must have noted the sudden influx of a lot of Indian Wear on my blog. One of the perks of being married means you have double the occasions to dress up in all your beautiful ethnic clothes that you would have never had the chance to wear otherwise.

I wore this outfit to an engagement party in the morning. The vibrant colors and beautiful embroidery portrays what my style quintessentially is.And,even though it looks heavy,it is super-light to wear which is always a plus in the Indian weather. If you ever do get the chance, definitely pop into Indian by Manish Arora for some for stunning, colorful and quite affordable Indian Wear.

The Bridal Files : Cocktail Party

The third function we had was a cocktail reception in the lawns of RCGC, Kolkata. It was a magical musical evening with perfect weather and starry skies.I had bought this dress from Gaurav Gupta during my trousseau shopping trip to Delhi and it was love at first sight. It was Indian but not too Indian which is exactly what I wanted for the event and the colour was a beautiful shade of Pink.
It fit me perfectly and didn't even require any alterations! (which is rare when it comes to me and Indianwear). Everyone needs a fairy tale and it felt like this was mine.I have a feeling it's going to stay with me for a long, long time. :)

Burst of Color

Don't cha just love it when life decides it's time for a change and just bursts through like a storm and everything turns topsy turvy.I am approaching some major life changing decisions right now and even though am not sure where they will lead me to...am ready to welcome them with open arms.Sometimes we get too comfortable in our own space.Following the same eat.sleep.work.play routine is very easy to get used to but not as fulfilling. Every time I fall into a routine,I get this urge to leave it all behind and break free.It could be the smallest thing like what I eat for breakfast everyday.I tend to eat the same thing for months until I get bored and switch to something completely different. This is why change is good.It keeps us fresh and motivated and not have any expectations out of life.Like a whoosh of color through black and white.Always know that when we leave something behind...something better is on the way. :)

A Spring Fling

When I think of spring,I think of florals (Sorry,Miranda Priestly). And this outfit is what my typical weekend Spring outfit would be like.Casual,Comfy and Colourful. Since Spring days are limited in Kolkata before the much dreaded summers begin,we try to make most of whatever little bit of decent weather is left.Soon,it will be too hot and humid to even want to go outdoors!
I wore this outfit for a relaxing afternoon out last Sunday  The floral pants cheer up the most boring days and about my obsession for pink you will soon find out with the upcoming posts. Everytime,I see something in the most in-your-face bright pink...I just have to pick it up.If you give me an option between any color and pink.It will always be pink!I had planned to put on pink nail paint also but didn't get the time and I really wanted to do another outfit post soon. The makeup is minimal with just a hint of Kohl and Lipbalm as I don't like too much of a fuss on weekends unless I'm going somewhere dressy.Do let me know what you think?
